Chad Vegas - Lead Pastor

Chad is the founding pastor of Sovereign Grace Church. After completing his MA in Theology at Talbot, and being the high school pastor at RiverLakes Community Church, Chad was called to plant a church in Bakersfield. His passion is to know Christ and to make him known. He has been married to Teresa since 1994, and they have 2 children.

Jason Faber - Associate Pastor

Jason Faber is one of the original four men whom God called to co-plant Sovereign Grace Church of Bakersfield. The son of a pastor and church planter, Jason grew up planting churches alongside his father and has been doing ministry most of his life. He attended BIOLA University for two years and went on to graduate from Fresno Pacific University in 2006. His desire is to be used by God to “bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of His name among all the nations.” (Romans 1:5) Jason has been married to his lovely bride Christin since 2011.

John Bryant - Associate Pastor

John and his family have been attending Sovereign Grace since 2012. In 2013, he became a member of our Pastoral staff. John and his wife Marlo have been married for 23 years and have three children; Brianna, Zach and Jadyn. John has served in full time ministry for approximately 22 years in the role of youth pastor, associate pastor and church planter. John's greatest joy is in seeing the Gospel bring about the delight of God, to be made known to the people of God, in every tribe, tongue and nation for His glory alone... "Soli Deo Gloria"!

John Stevens - Elder

John and his family have been attending Sovereign Grace Church since the first Thursday evening meeting in August of ’06. Through leading small groups, prayer and building friendships in the body, his heart and desire to shepherd continues to grow. Laura and he have been married for 25 years and have 4 children; Keith, David, Carolyn and Abigail, ranging from 21 to 9 years old. His family loves the truth of Scripture preached at Sovereign Grace every week and the passion for Jesus Christ that is evident among the believers. He has a BS/MS degrees in Chemical Engineering, is a Professional Engineer and works as a technical consultant for an oil company.

Russell Horner - Youth Pastor

Russell is the Youth Pastor to the Junior High and High School students at Sovereign Grace. In addition, he is a full time math teacher at Bakersfield Christian High School. Russell has served in youth ministry since he was just out of high school himself! Russell received his degree in Biblical Studies from Biola University and continues to study God's word faithfully. He loves teaching what he has learned from scripture to anyone, but especially to students because their understanding of the gospel will shape the rest of their lives. Russell's passion is to "proclaim Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me" (Colossians 1:28-29). He has been married to Ashly since 2005, and they have 2 children - Elliot and Hope.


Chase Craft - Pastoral Resident

Chase has been attending Sovereign Grace since 2014. He is a pastoral resident at Sovereign Grace and operates as the co-leader of the music ministry. He has been in the music ministry in the local church since he was 13 years old and has a passion to see God gloried through the singing of His church. He has been married to his wife Cayla since 2008, and they have 3 children. Chase and Cayla both work from home in the health and wellness industry. His greatest joy is to see God use the ministry of song to bring glory to His name and to edify His church.

Genevive Robison - Director of Children's Ministry

Genevive is the Director of the Children’s Ministry. She has been attending Sovereign Grace since 2013 and has been involved in children’s ministries for over fifteen years. She has a Masters degree in Behavioral Neuroscience with an emphasis in pediatrics from San Diego State University. Genevive has been married to her husband Nick since 2014, and has one stepdaughter -Emme. Nick and Genevive are certified foster parents and are hoping to adopt in the near future.
